Mahama swears in Sophia Akuffo, 30 others as Council of State members

Council of State

President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo and 30 other distinguished individuals as members of the Council of State. The members also include former speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho as Chairman of the Council. The ceremony, held at the Jubilee House in Accra on Tuesday February 18, 2025, marks a significant moment in Ghana’s governance as these new members are expected to provide valuable advice and support to the President on various national issues.

The Council of State plays a crucial role in ensuring that the country’s governance structures remain robust and responsive to the needs of the people. The newly sworn-in members bring a wealth of experience and expertise from diverse fields, including law, academia, business, and civil society. The ceremony was attended by key government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from various sectors of society.
