Joseph Boahen Aidoo, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), has formally resigned from his role, with the resignation taking effect on January 7, 2025. This decision is in response to a directive released on January 13, 2025, which outlined the termination of all board memberships for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).
In a letter to President John Dramani Mahama on January 16, Mr. Aidoo stated that his decision is aimed at ensuring a smooth transition and allow stakeholders and business partners to establish timely connections with the incoming leadership even though his renewed mandate was due to expire in July 2025.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the cocoa sector and pledged his support for the transition process. Mr. Aidoo also expressed gratitude to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve as COCOBOD’s Chief Executive over the past eight years. “I hereby tender my resignation as Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board, effective January 7, 2025,” his letter concluded.”
