The High Court in Koforidua has issued an order restraining the installation and outdooring of a chief for Adambrobe in the Eastern Region. The directive, granted on 24 April, prohibits five respondents from proceeding with ceremonies scheduled for 27 April and 4 May.
The application was brought by the Inspector General of Police under the Public Order Act, with the respondents named as Gyasenehene Kwame Adu Amadu Ayeh, Kwame Takyi, Richard Mikki Osei Berko, Douglas Amoako Danquah, and Samuel Akwesi Bio. The court ruled that they are barred from conducting the installation and outdooring of the chief in the Aburi South District on the specified dates.
The order followed an affidavit filed by a police officer on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, supported by submissions from the applicant’s counsel. The restriction is to remain in effect for ten days and was formally issued under the hand and seal of the High Court in Koforidua.
