Ghana’s military is set to recruit and train 12,000 new personnel for the Army Recruits Training School and the Ghana Military Academy, as announced by the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah. This announcement follows an extensive working visit to key military sites within the 1 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces.
After a nearly 11-hour tour, Dr. Boamah praised the leadership of Commodore Asiedu-Larbi and commended the personnel for their “tireless efforts.” He emphasised that the visit provided a firsthand look at the operational readiness and commitment of Ghana’s armed forces. In response to concerns about corruption in the recruitment process, the Minister offered firm assurances regarding the integrity of the recruitment.
“Let me repeat: recruitment and enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces is not for sale; and will not be for sale under my #EAGLEEYES watch!” he declared. The statement underscores renewed efforts to maintain integrity and fairness in military enlistment.

Dr Boamah’s tour also included inspections at the Eastern Naval Command, where he observed strategic installations, and at Michel Camp, where troops demonstrated their capacity to respond to explosive threats. “We’re working hard under President Mahama’s #ResettingGhana agenda to ensure our soldiers’ welfare and safety,” he said.
