President John Dramani Mahama, Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, urged newly commissioned officers to embrace the values of responsibility, integrity, and professionalism as they embark on their military careers. He delivered this message while addressing the graduating officer cadets at the Ghana Military Academy on Friday, April 11. The graduation ceremony officially marked the transition of the cadets into commissioned officers of the Ghana Armed Forces.
In his address, President Mahama reminded the officers of the high expectations the nation has for them and urged them to fulfill their responsibilities as future leaders of the military. “Graduating cadets, today marks the beginning of a new chapter in your lives. You are no longer officer cadets; you will soon become officers of the Ghana Armed Forces. The nation looks to you with expectations, hope, and confidence. You are part of the future of the Ghana Armed Forces, and your actions will shape the destiny of our nation.”
“Remember that leadership is not about rank or privilege. Leadership is about responsibility and service. I urge you to live with integrity, courage and compassion. I encourage you to be officers who inspire loyalty. I expect you to be leaders who earn respect and uphold the highest standard of professionalism,” he stated.
The President emphasized that the Ghana Armed Forces is a critical institution in maintaining peace and stability, and as such, those who lead within it must display exemplary conduct and a deep sense of national duty. The commissioning parade was attended by high-ranking military officials, government representatives, diplomats, and family members of the graduates. It featured a display of military drills and traditions that marked the cadets’ successful completion of their training.
