ECG launches investigation into prepaid meter complaints

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has confirmed that it has begun investigating all reported cases of metering and billing concerns raised by customers across the country. In a statement, ECG’s Director of Communications, William Boateng, said the move follows a directive from the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, and forms part of the company’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Boateng explained that ECG operates a state-of-the-art metering laboratory and that every meter is independently tested and certified by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) to ensure compliance.

To enhance public confidence, ECG has formally requested the GSA to independently and randomly test meters both in the laboratory and in the field. The findings will be compiled in a report to the Minister. The company reassured customers that it remains committed to reliable service delivery and urged continued cooperation as the investigations progress.
