11 dead, 13 injured in Ofankor-Pokuase road crash

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed that 11 people have died in a multiple-vehicle crash on the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch in Accra. The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, and involved 24 individuals. The crash took place between the Ofankor Barrier and the John Teye enclave. Thirteen others sustained injuries and were transported to Achimota Hospital for medical attention.

Seven vehicles were involved in the accident, including two tipper trucks, two Sprinter buses, two saloon cars, and a tricycle. The GNFS reported that rescue teams from the Amasaman Fire Station and the headquarters were dispatched to the scene to assist with rescue operations. In a statement to Channel One News on Thursday, August 13, DO1 Emmanuel Bonnie indicated that investigations have begun to determine the cause of the crash.
