Dr. Naomi Wulafi Kwetey and Sheila Azuntaba appointed as CBG’s new MD and deputy MD

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey as the new Managing Director and Ms. Sheila Azuntaba as the Deputy Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG). Their appointments will take effect on March 26, 2025. This information was confirmed in an official letter from the Ministry of Finance, signed by Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson. The letter, addressed to the board chairman of CBG, instructed the bank to complete the necessary processes to formalize the appointments in accordance with the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), and the institution’s constitution.

Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey has over 25 years of extensive experience in the financial sector, with specializations in corporate relationship management, treasury, credit administration, branch banking marketing, and operational risk management. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Ghana, an MBA in International Banking and Finance from Birmingham Business School, and a Doctorate in Business Administration and Management from Nobel International Business (NiBS) University. Ms. Sheila Azuntaba is a seasoned investment banker and entrepreneur. She previously served as Assistant Vice President at Citigroup’s Global Transaction Services Unit in Nigeria, where she played a key role in product development, marketing, and sales strategies.

Her career spans multiple countries, including Kenya and Ghana, where she held senior roles in investment and commercial banking, managing significant financial portfolios. She holds an MBA in Finance from The Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow, Scotland, and a BA (Hons) in Marketing from the University of Westminster, London. Beyond banking, she is also known for her commitment to financial inclusion, particularly for women, and was crowned Miss Ghana in 1996.

The appointments come at a critical time for Consolidated Bank Ghana, and the new leadership is expected to bring their vast expertise to drive the bank’s strategic vision. Their extensive experience in banking and financial services positions them to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen financial stability, and support the bank’s long-term growth. The Minister also called on all stakeholders to support Dr. Kwetey and Ms. Azuntaba in their new roles as they take the helm of one of Ghana’s key financial institutions.
