The family and management of legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba have announced a last-minute change to the venue for his one-week observance. The event is still scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025, but will now take place at Black Star Square (Independence Square) in Accra, where a candlelight vigil in his honour was held just weeks ago.
The observance was originally planned for the University of Ghana Stadium, but it was relocated following a formal notice from the La State Council. At a press conference today in Accra, representatives from the council stated that, effective Monday, August 11, 2025, noise-making in the La Traditional Area will be banned until September 5, 2025. Since the original venue falls within this jurisdiction, officials requested that the family either postpone or relocate the event. Rather than delay the observance, Daddy Lumba’s team chose to relocate it.
In a public statement, they assured fans that the date remains unchanged and acknowledged the change in venue. “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciate your understanding,” the announcement stated.
