Court adjourns case of Ebo Noah to June 10

An Adenta Circuit Court has adjourned the case involving Evans Eshun, also known as Ebo Noah, a self-styled prophet accused of making false claims that the world would be destroyed by a flood on December 25, 2025. The case has been rescheduled to June 10, 2026, after the prosecution indicated that it is in the process of filing its disclosures. Ebo Noah, a 33-year-old security guard, appeared in court on Wednesday, March 18, wearing a white top and nude trousers.

He appeared calm and cheerful, accompanied by his mother and other relatives. He is currently out on bail amounting to GH¢100,000, with two sureties, one of whom must be justified with either landed property or a vehicle. The court has also ordered him to report to the police once a week. The charges against him include publication of false news with the intent to cause fear and panic. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Presenting the facts, Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, who led the prosecution, stated that the complainant in the case is the Ghana Police Service.

According to the prosecution, Ebo Noah allegedly published several videos on Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube between August and December 2025, in which he claimed the world would be destroyed by a flood on December 25. He is also said to have claimed he was constructing an “ark” to save those who wished to survive the supposed disaster. The court heard that on December 31, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation, he was arrested at his hideout at Weija-Gbawe in the Greater Accra Region.

In his detailed statement, Ebo Noah admitted to creating and sharing videos on social media. However, he clarified that he did not own the boat he referred to as an “ark”; it actually belonged to fishermen at a boatyard in Edina, located in the Central Region. Prosecutors further noted that he acknowledged the claims he made were false and confirmed that there was no impending flood. Noah told investigators that the videos were intended to serve as content to attract followers on social media. The case has been adjourned to give the prosecution time to complete its disclosures.
