Bawku Crisis: Mediation has yielded some peace – Otumfuo

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has noted that recent mediation efforts in the Bawku conflict have led to a period of relative calm in the area. Leading the peace talks between the feuding Kusasi and Mamprusi factions, the Asantehene met with representatives from both sides between April 28 and April 30, before the discussions were temporarily suspended.

Speaking during a meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, May 12, 2025, Otumfuo indicated that the mediation process would soon resume. “We are still on the matter, and we will meet again to address the issues. We are not done yet. But the little we have done has brought some calm in the area. We will brief you and the Ghanaians soon,” he stated.
