Eric Twum, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, has urged the Mamprusi and Kusasi factions in Bawku to embrace peace and reconciliation in light of the recent mediation led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, December 17, he noted that although mediation outcomes may not fully satisfy all parties, sustaining peace and unity is vital for the community’s progress.
“The processes deserve commendation, and the principal actors must allow peace to prevail. In negotiations of this nature, some may not be entirely pleased with the outcome, but when peace is upheld and people coexist as one, normalcy and vibrancy will return,” he stated, calling on all sides to support the government’s efforts to secure stability
Meanwhile, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has stressed that the presented mediation report on the Bawku conflict should be binding on all parties involved. The report was formally submitted to President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 16, at Jubilee House, as part of ongoing efforts to secure lasting peace in the region.
Otumfuo clarified that the process was a mediation exercise, not arbitration, highlighting the need for voluntary compliance by all stakeholders to achieve sustainable harmony.
