The late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Mahama Naser Toure, will be laid to rest on Monday, January 5. The announcement was made by Ayawaso North MP, Yussif Jajah, following Mr. Toure’s passing on Sunday, January 4, after a brief illness. According to Jajah, arrangements for the release of the late MP’s body were swiftly facilitated with the support of President John Dramani Mahama. In line with Islamic tradition, a Janazah prayer will be observed at 10:00 a.m.
on Monday at the constituency office along the Kanda Highway, led by the National Chief Imam. After the prayers, Mr. Toure’s remains will be interred at the Madina Cemetery. Mr. Jajah also paid tribute to the late Mahama Naser Toure, describing him as a respected leader whose death has left a big gap in Parliament and in the Ayawaso East constituency.
He noted that the late MP, who served four terms in Parliament, made a strong impact through his work and inspired many young politicians. He recalled community projects such as “Operation Cement Your Lungu,” which helped improve sanitation and infrastructure in parts of Nima.
According to him, Mr. Toure also contributed to development in the constituency through road projects, improvements at the Nima Police Station, and support for the Nima Government Hospital. Mr. Jajah said whoever succeeds the late MP will have a challenging task continuing his work and building on the legacy he left behind.
