The Accra High Court has ordered the remand of the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, after he failed to comply with a court directive requiring him to surrender his passport as part of his bail conditions in an ongoing criminal case brought by the State. The court took the decision after finding that Abronye DC had not fulfilled the bail requirement set at the time of his release. He was absent from court when the ruling was delivered.
Abronye DC is facing a charge of false publication in a case instituted by the State. He was granted bail by the High Court in Accra last month after being remanded following his initial arraignment. As part of the bail terms, he was directed to deposit his passport with the court. However, his failure to comply with that condition led to the court ordering his return to police custody. The substantive case is expected to continue at the Circuit Court, where proceedings on the charge are ongoing.
