Abronye arrested for offensive conduct – Police

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, for ‘offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.’ In a brief statement issued on Monday, September 8, the Police noted that Mr. Baffoe was taken into custody earlier in the day and is currently being held. He is expected to be arraigned before the court in the coming days.

While the Police did not provide full details of the specific conduct that led to the arrest, the move comes amid heightened public attention surrounding the outspoken Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Abronye recently made headlines after submitting formal requests for political asylum in eight countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Germany, and Côte d’Ivoire. In his petition, he alleged increasing political persecution and threats to his life, accusing the current government of abusing state security agencies for political purposes. Police reportedly conducted a search at the residence of former NPP Youth Organiser Moses Abor on Sunday as part of inquiries linked to Abronye, but he was not found.
