The National Council of Parent‑Teacher Associations (NCPTA) has called for the dismissal, prosecution, and permanent delisting of a teacher at Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student. The teacher is alleged to have been captured in a viral video engaging in a sexual relationship with a female student, sparking public outrage and renewed calls for stronger safeguarding measures in schools.
Speaking to Citi News, NCPTA General Secretary Raphael Kofi Gapson condemned the alleged act, describing it as a betrayal of trust and a grave breach of professional ethics. He stressed that if investigations confirm wrongdoing, the teacher must not only be dismissed but also stripped of his professional licence and barred from teaching.
“We call it a betrayal of trust and a crime against humanity. We urge that the offender should be prosecuted, dismissed, and delisted from GES. He should be denied the opportunity to use his National Teaching Council Certificate to work,” Gapson stated.
Mr. Gapson further urged the Ghana Education Service (GES) to fully enforce its Sexual Harassment Guidelines to deter similar incidents in schools and protect students from abuse. He stressed that the strict application of existing regulations remains critical in safeguarding children and maintaining discipline within the education sector.
“We also urge the GES to implement the GES Sexual Harassment Guidelines to protect our children in our schools,” he said. Meanwhile, the teacher has been interdicted pending the outcome of investigations.
