The Rt. Hon. Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced that NiBS University has proposed the creation of a scholarship called the “Speaker’s Scholarship for Parliamentarians and Parliamentary Staff.” The Speaker noted that this scholarship was established in recognition of his inspirational and transformational leadership, as well as his commitment to Ghana’s democratic and institutional development. Additionally, it acknowledges his visionary leadership, which is essential for promoting academic advancement and capacity building among Parliamentarians and their staff.
During a statement made on the floor of the House, he emphasized that the scholarship encompasses a variety of graduate programs, each with substantial monetary values. This includes a PhD in Business Administration valued at $7,599, a Doctor of Business Leadership worth $6,999, a Doctor of Public Sector Innovation and Leadership priced at $5,599, and various Master’s programs available for $1,399. He noted that these scholarships from NiBS University will promote lifelong learning among Members of Parliament and staff of the Parliamentary Service, strengthening policy research and legislative analysis, while bridging the gap between academia and governance.
He urged all Members and staff of the Parliamentary Service to take full advantage of the Speaker’s Scholarship for Parliamentarians and Parliamentary Staff, allowing them to obtain degrees that foster innovation and provide the kind of leadership needed for Parliament to meet the expectations of the people of Ghana.
Some Members of Parliament from both sides of the House highly commended the Speaker for leading such an initiative that will benefit individual Members of Parliament and staff of the Service
