Instant messaging app WhatsApp is currently facing a glitch as thousands of users have reported challenges in sending and receiving messages. Some users who have taken to Twitter to complain about the problem say they are unable to send both personal and group messages.
An outage detection website DownDetector has confirmed the communication app owned by Meta is not working for thousands of users across the globe. Social media users from Ghana, Kenya, India, Italy and other countries have posted about not being able to send messages. Both on mobile and on desktop, users have not been able to deliver messages. Some receive only one tick on their private messages.
Meanwhile, the company has said it is working to restore the app for users. “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible,” said a spokesperson of Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram besides WhatsApp.
