The revolution for women empowerment has just begun – Miss Comfort Acheampong

AN INTERNATIONAL NGO EMPOWERING WOMEN

Women empowerment is when women have the freedom to make their own choices and decisions. They have the most potent right in deciding what’s right for them. Women have suffered through the decades because they didn’t have any rights. They suffered in the hands of their male counterparts. In earlier centuries, they were treated as almost non-existent. As if all the rights belonged to men. As times evolved, women have realized their power. The revolution for women empowerment has just begun.

As women were not allowed to make decisions for themselves, women empowerment came in like a breath of fresh air. It made them aware of their rights and how they must make their own place in the society rather than depending on men.

Women are still marginalized in our society.  Global Learning Centers is a non-governmental organization based in Atimpoku in the Asuogyaman district seeks to continue the fight of empowering women. The women in Asuogyaman district are mainly petty traders and farmers as such. Global Learning Centers trains women in literacy program, Computer literacy, Bio-digester, Borehole drilling, Catering, Construction Works Solar Energy, electrical works, soap making, etc.

Speaking to the media, the programs manager Miss Comfort Acheampong stated that the organization seeks to empower women in the Asuogyaman district to take their destiny into their own hands. Educating and empowering women will contribute a lot to the development of the Asuogyaman district and Ghana as a whole.

The organization has their training center at the Atimpoku roundabout. The organization is in talks with the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) to train and award its students with NVTI certification. The CEO of the organization Dr Gloria Morgan has made it her priority to help develop the women of Asuogyaman district and extend it to other districts within the region and Ghana as a whole.
