President John Dramani Mahama has said the Constitutional Review Committee is expected to present its report in August after its work has been completed. Speaking during a meeting with the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the President hinted that issues of asset declaration and more stringent measures to fight corruption will be included in the report.
“We are expecting the report from the Constitutional Review Committee in August, and I am confident that some of the recommendations will address issues related to asset declaration and other key measures in the fight against corruption,” the President stated. The eight-member Committee, chaired by Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, was tasked with identifying gaps and challenges in the implementation of previous constitutional review efforts. They will engage with stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives and formulate actionable recommendations aimed at strengthening Ghana’s democratic institutions and processes.
The committee comprises legal scholars, political scientists, and civil society leaders, all recognised for their expertise and commitment to good governance. Other members of the Committee are: Justice Sophia Adinyirah, Prof. Kwame Karikari, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, Dr. Godwin Djokoto, Ibrahim Tanko Amidu, Dr. Esi Ansah and Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya (Secretary). By forming the Committee, President Mahama fulfilled a campaign promise to assess and potentially amend the nation’s 1992 Constitution.
