The Ghana Health Service is urging the public to maintain good hygiene practices, avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms or with rashes, and visit a health facility if any symptoms are noticed.
This is essential to help stop the spread of Mpox. Currently, there have been 79 confirmed cases of Mpox in Ghana, with four patients currently hospitalised. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported. The GHS attributes the recent increase in Mpox cases to heightened surveillance efforts, including contact tracing and increased public awareness, which have enabled faster detection and isolation of cases.
