Mothers are the backbone of families and the economy – Prof. Opoku-Agyemang

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has honoured mothers in Ghana and around the world, recognising them as the foundation of families, communities, and economies. In a Mother’s Day message posted on her social media, she commended mothers for their resilience, sacrifices, and unconditional love, noting that their commitment continues to inspire future generations.

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the lives of women and mothers through empowerment and economic inclusion initiatives. The Vice President highlighted measures such as proposed 24-hour markets, the Women’s Development Bank, skills training and apprenticeship programs, increased access to financing, and the nationwide provision of free sanitary pads for schoolgirls.

She also acknowledged the vital roles played by grandmothers, guardians, and all women who serve as maternal figures in society. “Your love and service do not go unnoticed,” she stated, while wishing mothers a blessed and fulfilling Mother’s Day.
