Man allegedly poisons himself after girlfriend announces pregnancy at Kasoa

A 37-year-old Ivorian man has reportedly poisoned himself after his girlfriend informed him of her pregnancy. According to sources, his body was found behind a filling station at Kasoa Krispocity in the Awutu Senya East Municipality.

According to GHOne News reporter Yaw Boagyan, the deceased had been seen wandering in the area over the weekend, but local residents did not offer him any assistance. When residents discovered his body, they found a mobile phone beside him. They used one of the saved numbers to contact his girlfriend, who confirmed his identity. She stated that he was her boyfriend, originally from the Volta Region, but he had fled after she revealed her pregnancy.

Sources say the girlfriend’s father is known to be very strict and might have taken legal action against the deceased upon learning of the pregnancy. Following the announcement, the deceased allegedly travelled from the Volta Region to Kasoa, where he may have poisoned himself out of fear of repercussions from the girlfriend’s family.

Some eyewitnesses have blamed the police for not responding to calls when they noticed the man lying unconscious in a nearby bush. The body has been sent to the police hospital for autopsy and preservation.
