Liberty Choice Network Empowers Citizens to Shape Ghana’s Future

The Liberty Choice Network, a non-governmental organization (NGO), is on a mission to promote citizen participation in Ghana’s electoral process. According to Mr. Wilson Mawuli Dovia, Executive Director of Liberty Choice Network, the organization’s goal is to encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote and elect competent leaders.

The Liberty Choice Network was registered prior to the 2020 elections, with the main aim of ensuring citizens’ participation in the electoral process, specifically in the area of voting. The organization’s mission is to encourage citizens’ participation and eventually strengthen Ghana’s democracy.

Mr. Dovia emphasized that citizens should look beyond political party affiliations and cast their votes based on the qualifications and competence of candidates. He cited Article 42 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which states that every citizen of Ghana aged 18 and above has the right to vote.

The importance of voting cannot be overstated. Mr. Dovia pointed out that the state incurs significant costs in organizing elections, and citizens who fail to vote are essentially wasting public resources. By participating in elections, citizens can hold leaders accountable for their actions and ensure that they are working in the best interests of the country.

In fact, Mr. Dovia noted that the ballot papers, parliamentary, presidential, and all other election materials are printed using Ghana’s money, not political party funds. Therefore, citizens who register to vote but fail to cast their ballots are not only wasting public resources but also failing to realise the purpose for which they registered as voters.

The Liberty Choice Network is urging all eligible Ghanaians to register to vote and exercise their constitutional right. By doing so, citizens can shape the future of Ghana and ensure that the country is led by competent and visionary leaders.

Mr. Dovia emphasised that citizens should take ownership of their role in the electoral process and not leave it to others. He encouraged citizens to cast their minds wider and look beyond political party affiliations when voting, as the ultimate goal is to elect quality leaders who will work in the best interests of Ghana.

By participating in the electoral process, citizens can strengthen Ghana’s democracy and ensure that the country is moving in the right direction. The Liberty Choice Network is committed to promoting citizen participation and empowering Ghanaians to shape their own future.
