H.E John Dramani Mahama visit National Chief Imam

The National Chief Imam of Ghana, Dr. Shaik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, received a special visit from the flag bearer and leader of the National Democratic Congress, H.E John Dramani Mahama on Friday 28th June. The visit, which took place at the Imam’s residence in New Fadama, in the Okai Kwei Central Constituency, was in connection to the celebration of the joyous occasion of Eid-Al-Adha and to present some funds after presenting some food items and a cow to support the Chief Imam and the Muslim community during the festive season.

During the visit, H.E John Dramani Mahama took the opportunity to reiterate his promise to reduce the high cost of Hajj, which is currently at GH 75,000 Cedis. He stated that this cost is significantly higher than the GH 11,500 Cedis he left it at during his previous term in office. Furthermore, H.E John Mahama reaffirmed his pledge to add an additional holiday for the end of the Ramadan festival of Eid-Al-Fitir.

In response, the National Chief Imam expressed his appreciation for the visit and commended H.E Mahama for his heartwarming plans to alleviate the suffering of the Muslim community when he reassumes office Insha Allah. The Chief Imam also fervently prayed to Allah to grant H.E Mahama his wish and the wisdom and strength to execute his wonderful plans for the nation.

The graciousness of H.E John Mahama did not end there, as he also made a stop at the residence of Ishawu Yaro,(the Victim of Ayawaso West Wago by-election violence) where he presented Ishawu with a television set and a deep freezer to help him sustain himself until H.E Mahama assumes the reins of office and implements the much-needed compensation prescribed by the Emil Short Commission of Inquiry.
In yet another touching gesture, H.E John Mahama visited the residence of Ibrahim Yorkor, the Greater Accra Regional Security Coordinator of the NDC, to empathize with him on the recent passing of his mother.

Accompanying H.E John Mahama on this memorable visit were key members of the NDC National Zongo Caucus, including the National Zango Caucus Coordinator Alhaji Cole Younger and his deputy Alhaji Yahya Kondow, the Okai Kwei Central Parliamentary candidate Alhaji Baba Sadik, Member of Parliament for Okai Kwei North Hon. Theressa Lardi Awuni, and the National Zongo Caucus Communication Director Alhaji Mohammed Naziru.
Other esteemed members of the National Zongo Caucus who joined the entourage were Alhaji Masawudu Abubakar, Alhaji Nuruden Mahamed, Alhaji Fidaus Mubarak, Alhaji Ashkar, Hajia Kandey Majesty, Hon. Alijata Suleyman, Hajia Rabiyatu Halidu and Hajia Nadiya Alhassan. The presence of these influential and respected leaders further highlights the significance of H.E John Mahama’s visit and his commitment to the welfare of Muslims in Ghana.

This visit by H.E John Dramani Mahama to the National Chief Imam and the Muslim community is a testament to his dedication to improving the lives of Ghanaians and his genuine love and respect for all religious groups in the country.
