GES opens promotion applications for teachers and officers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that applications are now open for teachers and officers who are seeking promotion to higher professional ranks. In a statement from the Acting Deputy Director-General (MS), Prof. Smile Dzisi, GES invited qualified staff to apply for promotions to the following ranks: Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent.

To be eligible, applicants must have been promoted to their current rank on or before 2020 and must have served continuously since then, excluding any approved leave of absence. The application period runs from Monday, August 18, to Friday, September 5, 2025.

For teachers aiming for promotion with Master’s or PhD qualifications, GES emphasises that the programs must be on its approved list of studies, and the certificates should not have been obtained before a previous promotion. Additionally, advanced degree holders applying for the positions of Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Deputy Director must have earned their degrees in or before 2022.

Applications must be submitted online through the GES portal. Supporting documents, including recent passport photographs, academic certificates, and promotion letters, should be submitted in PDF format.
