GES Interdicts Bole SHS Tutor Over Alleged Sexual Misconduct With Student

Authorities have suspended a teacher at Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region after a video allegedly depicting sexual misconduct with a student surfaced on social media. The Ghana Education Service (GES) confirmed on Tuesday, June 16, that it has interdicted the teacher pending investigations. In a statement, GES said management had become aware of ‘a disturbing video of alleged sexual misconduct’ involving a teacher and a student, though their identities remain undisclosed.

The Service stressed that the suspension aligns with its regulations and reiterated its zero‑tolerance stance on inappropriate teacher‑student relationships. It further assured that disciplinary and legal measures will be taken against anyone found culpable, emphasising its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all students.

Authorities said the matter was being treated with urgency and seriousness, promising to provide further updates as investigations progress. Sexual relationships between teachers and students are prohibited under the Ghana Education Service’s code of conduct and may also constitute offences under Ghanaian child protection laws. The GES did not indicate whether the matter had been referred to police or child protection agencies.
