The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning to Ghanaians, particularly young people, to be wary of individuals and networks associated with the company QNET. Many victims have been misled by promises of job and travel opportunities abroad. In a public announcement made in Accra on Friday, March 13, the ministry reported a concerning rise in cases where Ghanaians are lured out of the country under false pretences.
The ministry explained that the recruiters behind these schemes often promise employment, business opportunities, or help securing European visas. Victims are then persuaded to pay money or travel abroad, only to find themselves in challenging situations. Officials say several people who fell for such offers have ended up stranded in foreign countries, detained by immigration authorities or subjected to harsh and exploitative conditions.
The ministry is urging the public to exercise extreme caution and to verify any travel, recruitment, or business opportunities through official channels before making any payments or arrangements to leave the country. Parents, guardians, and community leaders are encouraged to educate young people about the risks associated with these schemes.
Additionally, the ministry is calling on the public to report any suspicious activities to its consular division or the appropriate security and immigration authorities. It reaffirmed its commitment to working with national institutions to protect Ghanaian citizens and to clamp down on criminal networks that prey on unsuspecting people seeking opportunities abroad.
