The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has cautioned the public that shisha and vaping are not safe substitutes for smoking, stressing that fruit, mint, or candy flavours do not eliminate the harmful effects of tobacco on the lungs. In a public notice, the FDA emphasised: “It may taste sweet, but your lungs can’t tell the difference. Fruit flavor. Mint flavor. Candy flavor. None of these cancel out the harm.”
Protecting children from tobacco exposure
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has stressed that protecting children and young people from exposure to tobacco and nicotine products remains a critical public health priority. It emphasised that public cooperation and timely reporting of such activities are vital to strengthening enforcement efforts. The Authority further urged the public to provide specific details, including locations, to the appropriate agencies to support investigations and regulatory action.
