Don’t print in China, we can handle demand – Appointed Time MD to NDC, NPP

Jacqueline Afful, Managing Director of Appointed Time Printing Press, has urged Ghana’s major political parties, the NDC and NPP, to reconsider outsourcing the production of their campaign paraphernalia to China. Afful’s appeal comes amid reports that both parties are allegedly printing their materials overseas.

In an interview with Bernard Avle on the Citi Breakfast Show, Afful criticized the practice, arguing that it undermines the local printing industry and misses an opportunity to boost employment in Ghana.

“I wish I was at Channel One TV, I would have knelt down, we are pleading with them that capacity is here, the quality we can do the same and once we do this, all the unemployment we speak about, we could also give employment to some Ghanaians around this time.

“For us in Appointed Time, once we do this, we are also able to train the people on printing. So, some of them leave and then they can set up their small printing businesses alone.

“I will use your medium to appeal to the parliamentarians, political parties and businesses that sponsor politicians that at Appointed Time Printing, we have the capacity, we are competitive enough to deliver the political paraphernalia,” she stated.
