The name “Moringa” originates from a Tamil word that means “twisted pod.” Moringa leaves are derived from the Moringa tree, which can be found in the Himalayas, as well as in countries like India, Nigeria, Thailand, Taiwan, and the Philippines, among others. It’s important to note that pimples are a symptom of a condition, while acne refers to the condition itself. Those with acne-prone skin experience pimples as part of their condition, but not everyone will face occasional pimples.
- Fights bacteria
Moringa has antiseptic and antibacterial properties that may help reduce acne by preventing the growth of bacteria responsible for outbreaks. It strengthens the skin’s natural barrier and aids in cleansing and detoxifying the skin. A study published in the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine found that extracts from moringa leaves have antibacterial effects against skin pathogens.
- Removes dark spots
Moringa is beneficial for addressing skin conditions such as inflammation and acne due to its high concentration of vitamin C. It helps repair the skin by promoting cell turnover and reducing the number of discoloured skin cells that contribute to issues like hyperpigmentation, including acne scars. Studies indicate that topical vitamin C can diminish hyperpigmentation and enhance the overall complexion by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase, which is responsible for melanin production.
- Moisturises the skin
Moringa powder, which is high in omegas, is an excellent moisturiser because it can control the natural oil production of the skin. It keeps the skin hydrated and repairs the skin barrier. Also, because of its low oil content, it can be used by acne-prone people without clogging their skin and resulting in breakouts.
- Reduces inflammation
Inflammation can be brought on by environmental factors, acne, and some products. The Vitamin E in moringa slows down this reaction, reduces inflammation, and soothes skin to return to its original state.
