Insecure

Everyone is insecure to a certain degree. Even the guys who seem like they’ve got it all figured out—the ones with six-pack abs and a great head of hair—take the occasional hit to their ego. They have fears and trepidations and occasional crippling anxiety, even if they don’t show it. But this story isn’t about appearing confident. It’s about addressing your uncertainties and finding solutions to the things guys are insecure about. The male insecurities that are keeping you from succeeding to your full potential in your job and relationships.

It is not just women who go through a lot of insecurities. Similarly to them, men are also quite insecure about several things in their life. Whether it’s about their body, job or relationship, they go through insecurities that they aren’t able to express at times. This can lead to severe self-esteem and confidence issues.

Everyone knows that women feel insecure, and many of us know what some of their most common insecurities are. However, we tend to give way less attention to the kind of insecurities that men face; it just seems to be forgotten in the conversation. But male insecurities are definitely worth talking about.

A guy will rarely ever admit to suffering from body-image issues, or he’ll refuse to disclose his anxiety when first having sex with a new partner. They’re not usually in the habit of wanting to talk about it. But if you don’t know what insecurities he’s plagued with, you never know when you might hurt his feelings when you accidentally bring up a sore topic.

Despite the fact that men don’t openly talk about what makes them insecure about themselves, a lot of them really wish women would be a bit more understanding of their issues. You might think that everyone knows what insecurity is because almost everyone has them. So, what actually is insecurity? Well, it’s multifaceted.

In a nutshell, insecurity is an overall sense of uncertainty or anxiety about your worth, skills, abilities, or value as a person. Insecurities can have a lot of negative impacts on someone’s life, including physical, emotional, and mental. When you have insecurities, you can’t fully function to your potential.

There are a lot of symptoms of insecurity. In general, the person has an overriding feeling of inadequacy and a lack of self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. They also aren’t capable of coping very well with the stress of life and feel uncertain about the world. They might even be anxious about their relationships with other people.

Relationship

If infidelity has been a part of a man’s life and relationship, then it becomes very difficult for him to cope with the trust issues. He keeps thinking if he will be able to forgive his former partner or not. This turns into a huge insecurity that he takes along with him into the next relationship.

Body appearance

Men deal with a lot of body image issues. They feel a lot of competition from all the other men around them and the constant pressure to look their best at all times can be too burdensome at times. They suffer from an inferiority complex that can cause them a lot of issues.

Job security

Men are very concerned about their jobs in this competitive age where companies tend to lay off employees in a very unexpected way. Job security is a very important aspect of a man’s life because a man’s identity is often tied down to his job and living. The pressure to have a job becomes immense.

Expressing emotions

Many men face a lot of difficulties in expressing themselves. Emotional intimacy is a big puzzle for men who have no idea how to solve this. But no matter what, they do their best to solve their emotions.

Not meeting expectations

Men struggle when it comes to meeting the expectations of the people around them. And not being able to meet them can be quite burdensome for their conscience. Men have this inbuilt thought in them that they have to meet up to the expectations of the people around them or else they aren’t worthy at all.

Finances

Guys can be super insecure about their finances and how much money they make, based on the assumption that men are supposed to support a family or “bring home the bacon.” Even though this is the old-fashioned macho mentality, men still feel the pressure to measure up to other men financially.

Some guys believe that girls will stick with someone who is more financially secure and thus worry that their girlfriend will leave them for someone who makes more money than they do. That’s why it’s one of the common male insecurities that not a lot of women are aware of because they don’t worry about things like that.

 Sexual performance

All guys want to believe that they are the best you’ve ever had in bed. However, unless they’re incredibly conceited, they will generally feel insecure about one thing or another when it comes to having sex with a new girl for the first time.

Believe it or not, while you’re trying to hide your cellulite, he’s wondering what you’re thinking when he takes off his shirt and how you think he looks while he’s getting into it. Guys can be incredibly self-conscious about how much they sweat during sex and how fast or slow they orgasm, in addition to the noises and facial expressions they make. He will also be insecure about whether or not you’re faking your orgasm, and so comes the epic question that almost every guy asks after sex, “was it good for you?” A guy’s ego hangs on by a thread for the answer!

Women are often all too quick to forget that guy need approval and security the same way that girls do. If you’re in a relationship, remember to go easy on your guy now that you know he’s also facing his own war against his own insecurities. Compliment him and make sure he knows exactly what you like about him. It doesn’t hurt to tell him when he’s doing a good job in bed either. When he feels secure and confident, you’ll definitely have a happy man on your hands.

It’s true; guys have insecurities too! And now you know the common male insecurities. While it’s not every day you’ll hear a guy fess up about their inner fears of how others perceive them, it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have any.
