Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, has appealed for the restoration of road tolls. The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, directed for the collection of the road tolls to cease following the introduction of the Electronic Levy (E-Levy) by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, last two years in March.

However, many Ghanaians have since been calling on the government to restore the toll, as abolishing it is hugely costing the nation, but the government hasn’t heeded the citizens’ plea. Contributing to Friday’s edition of Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly called “Nana B”, called on his government to bring back the tolls arguing that millions of money are being washed away due to the removal of the tolls.

The NPP National Organizer made a solemn appeal to the officials in charge saying, “I plead with our leaders that one thing they should rethink and restore is the road tolls. I haven’t seen anything cancelled in Ghana that the citizens are calling for it to come back like the road toll”. “This year, it is estimated that the road toll can help us generate revenues of about 120 million. This emission tax we are talking about would only bring us 48m, so I implore the government to immediately bring back the road tolls,” he accentuated.
