The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it is going to “obtained and scrutinised immediately” a “documentary with the original transcripts” which allegedly shows “alleged malpractices in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) “in some schools”. In a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, GES, the service said it had taken notice of reports “particularly JoyNews TV of a possible screening” of the said documentary.
GES emphasised “its absolute aversion to examination malpractice”. “Cheating undermines the integrity of our education system, destroys meritocracy, and produces graduates who lack the competencies required for national development,” the service explained. GES assured it would “sanction any official of the service-teaching or non-teaching-found to have been involved in aiding or abetting cheating in the examination”.

ALLEGATIONS OF MALPRACTICE IN THE 2025 BECE
1. The attention of the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been drawn to reports in some sections of the media, particularly JoyNews TV, of a possible screening of alleged malpractices in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in some schools.
2. The GES wishes to assure the public that a copy of the full documentary with the original transcripts will be obtained and scrutinised immediately, after which a full-scale investigation will be conducted into the allegations.
3. Management reiterates its absolute aversion to examination malpractice. Cheating undermines the integrity of our education system, destroys meritocracy, and produces graduates who lack the competencies required for national development.
4. Management has the support of the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Ilddrisu, and the GES Council, to sanction any official of the Service- teaching or non-teaching- found to have been involved in aiding or abetting cheating in the examination. Such persons, if found guilty, will face severe disciplinary action in accordance with the law and established Service regulations
5. Management assures all stakeholders that GES remains committed to upholding the integrity of examinations and will collaborate fully with WAEC, National Security, and law enforcement agencies to stamp out this menace.
