Asogli State Council destools Togbe Afiatsoa III over misconduct

The Asogli State Council has destooled Togbe Afiatsoa III, Mankrado of Ho Bankoe, citing persistent misconduct and insubordination. The decision was formally announced on April 17, 2025, at the Asogli State Palace in Ho, Volta Region, where traditional rites—such as the pouring of libation and slaughtering of a ram—were performed to signify the destoolment.

The destoolment followed exhaustive consultations and a unanimous agreement by the Elders, Chiefs and Kingmakers. A statement issued by the Secretary of Asogli State Council, Stephen Tetteh, said, “Over an extended period, he has exhibited gross disregard for Traditional Authority, deliberately denigrated the revered Agbogbome Stool and persistently brought the name of Asogli into disrepute.

“Henceforth, he ceases to be recognised in any capacity whatsoever as Mankrado of Ho Bankoe,” he stated. The Council said Togbe Afiatsoa Ill resorted to social media and other public platforms to spread falsehoods after attempts to reform him failed. “Sadly, he chose to spurn all such opportunities and instead resorted to the reckless use of social media and other public platforms to spread falsehoods, cast aspersions and peddle misinformation aimed at undermining the image, integrity and cohesion of the traditional leadership of both Ho and the larger Asogli State,” he said.
