Appointments made after December 7 will be reviewed – Suhuyini

Tamale North MP and member of the subcommittee on the Transition Team, Alhassan Suhuyini, has announced that all appointments made after the December 7 election will be reviewed and potentially reversed when the new government assumes office on January 7. In an interview with Citi FM, Suhuyini called on the outgoing government to desist from making hasty appointments and promotions during the transition period.

“…I am cautioning those who are beneficiaries of their action not to allow these people who are at the helms of affairs to damage their genuine case for promotion, because you may have a genuine case for promotion but if you allow these things to go on, then it becomes difficult when the new establishment is put in place come.

“Any untoward promotion or appointment that is done, especially within this period of the transition will have to be looked into and probably reversed.” His statement follows the appointment of the transitional team, which is by the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (ACT 845). The meeting, held on  Wednesday, December 11, at the Jubilee House in Accra, signalled the start of an organized and peaceful transition of power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The National Transition Team, a constitutional body mandated to oversee the handover process, will play a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth transfer of power. The 2024 Transition Team will work in close collaboration with representatives of the outgoing government to ensure a smooth and orderly handover of political power.
