Award-winning gospel artist and preacher, Emmanuel Kwaku Deegbe, who is popularly known as Sonnie Badu, has urged President Akufo-Addo to fulfil his commitment to building the national cathedral. During an interview on Empire FM’s weekly show, ShowBiz Today, in Takoradi, he emphasized that if President Akufo-Addo made a personal promise to his maker, then he must fulfill it using his personal funds and not from the public purse.
“If he made a vow to God, then he must honour it, and that is a personal matter between him and God,” Badu stated. Even though the preacher did not underestimate the importance of a national worship center, he urged the president to do so from his own capacity.
President Akuffo Addo promised to build the national cathedral from his funds since it was a personal promise to God. However, The government of Ghana has so far spent about $58 million of taxpayers’ money on the cathedral project, but Ghanaians still have not seen any monumental evidence of their sweat.
