Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the spokesperson for President John Dramani Mahama and Minister-designate for Government Communications, stated that President Mahama is dedicated to running a lean yet efficient government. He compared this approach to the first administration of President Akufo-Addo, which had 120 ministers. Ofosu emphasized that despite a smaller cabinet size, the Mahama government would perform effectively, whereas the larger Akufo-Addo administration did not achieve good results.
“Ghanaians have come to accept that we will have the leanest and most efficient government. This was stated during an interview on TV3’s Key Points on Saturday, January 25. The speaker emphasized that these approaches will help the president save money while effectively getting the job done, and overall, Ghanaians have embraced this idea. He also mentioned that President Akufo-Addo had a large government but delivered poor results, as noted by the Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu-Kwamankese.
For his part, a Professor at the University of Ghana, Ransford Gyampo told all the appointees of President John Dramani Mahama to be visionary in carrying out their mandate. He asked them to set higher standards and not repeat the mistakes made by the previous Akufo-Addo administration. Speaking on the Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, January 25, he said ” I will urge the appointees to be visionary in all that they do.
“Set higher standards, don’t use Akufo-Addo as base standards for anything you do…” He further asked them to exhibit humility in all their dealings with Ghanaians otherwise Ghanaians would punish them in the next election. The President expressed confidence in their abilities to deliver on their mandates, stressing the critical nature of their portfolios in driving national development.
