“Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) responsible for Corporate Affairs, has resigned effective July 31, 2026. Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu announced the decision during the Government Accountability Series on Monday, June 15, and also confirmed the retirement of Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chairperson in charge of Operations.
According to Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, Dr. Asare stated in his resignation letter that he is stepping down to return to academia at the University of Ghana, while expressing gratitude to the President and the people of Ghana for the opportunity to serve. He added that processes to replace the two officials are underway, with a nominee already submitted to the Council of State for consideration.
Once the Council completes its review, an official announcement will be made regarding Mr. Tettey’s replacement, followed by a separate process to fill Dr. Asare’s vacancy. The Electoral Commission is expected to provide further details on the transition in due course
