Rescue operations at the site of the Avenor building collapse have officially ended, with authorities confirming two fatalities. Emergency teams concluded their search through the rubble on Sunday, June 7, after hours of intensive work in North Kaneshie.
Officials reported that two survivors were pulled from the debris and rushed to hospital for treatment. The collapse of the three‑storey structure, located near Melcom Plus and opposite the Ashfoam showroom, prompted a major emergency response involving the Ghana National Fire Service and other state agencies.
The operation was launched amid fears that more people might be trapped beneath the wreckage. With the mission now complete, the final death toll stands at two, while the injured continue to receive medical care. The cause of the collapse has yet to be determined, and investigations are expected to establish the circumstances behind the incident.
