GFA releases dates for the 2025/26 GPL season

The dates for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season have been announced. The new campaign will kick off on the weekend of September 12, 2025, and will conclude on the weekend of May 23/24, 2026. These dates align with the 23rd FIFA World Cup, which is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. This scheduling ensures that all elite domestic competitions wrap up before the start of the global event.

With Congress scheduled for August 12, 2025, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is committed to starting the Premier League on time and finishing in May 2026, in accordance with the approved FIFA calendar for all member associations. Matches in the Premier League will be played on weekends, with midweek dates reserved for any outstanding fixtures, following a similar structure to the 2024/25 season. The GFA is dedicated to effectively implementing this calendar to provide a vibrant, competitive, and well-coordinated football season across all levels.

The new season presents an opportunity for champions Bibiani Gold Stars SC to defend their title, while Techiman Eleven Wonders Football Club, Swedru All Blacks United Football Club, and Hohoe United Football Club will compete in the elite division after qualifying from the Access Bank Division One League.
