GNCCI Accra Executive Business Forum Champions Resilient Leadership Amid Economic Uncertainty

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, the Accra Branch of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) successfully hosted the Accra Executive Business Forum, themed “Navigating Economic Uncertainty: Strategies for Resilient Leadership.” The highly anticipated forum took place at the NsuomNam Seafood and Fish Restaurant, bringing together key business executives, policymakers, and thought leaders to discuss actionable strategies for enhancing business resilience amid current economic volatility.

The event was opened by the chairman of the Accra GNCCI, Imran Sham Kwakye, who emphasised the importance of the gathering. He provided an insightful overview of the chamber and outlined the way forward. We had the Honourable Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, the Accra Regional Minister’s representative, who emphasised the critical role of both the government and the private sector in fostering economic stability.

She acknowledged the numerous challenges that businesses in Ghana and around the world are facing due to rising inflation, global market instability, and supply chain disruptions. In her remarks, she encouraged corporate leaders to embrace innovation and sustainable practices, while commending the GNCCI for creating a platform for dialogue and strategic networking.

One of the highlights of the forum was a keynote presentation by Mr. Ekow Mensah, CEO of EMI Group, who provided transformative insights into entrepreneurial agility and leadership adaptation. Drawing from his extensive experience in entrepreneurship and mentoring, Mr. Mensah emphasized the importance of reimagining business models to be more flexible and centred around people. He stated, “Leaders must shift from rigid hierarchies to dynamic, responsive strategies that take into account the unpredictable nature of today’s economy.”

Adding depth to the financial aspect of resilience, Eugenia Oduroa Addo, Head of SME and Support at Access Bank (Ghana) PLC, delivered a compelling presentation on financial inclusion and the importance of empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). She emphasised the bank’s initiatives designed to equip SMEs with the tools and funding necessary to navigate economic downturns. Her address called for a collaborative effort between financial institutions and businesses to create sustainable support systems.

The forum also included an interactive panel session where attendees engaged with speakers on key issues such as digital transformation, access to credit, taxation policies, and youth entrepreneurship. Participants praised the openness of the dialogue and the practical insights shared. Corporate sponsors and partners, including PCG, Afro Arab Group, Japan Motors, Loyalty Insurance, Access Bank, Kurugu MA Company and NsuomNam, provided vital support that contributed to the success of the event. Their involvement also demonstrated the type of inter-sector collaboration necessary for economic recovery and growth.

In his closing remarks, the Chairman of the GNCCI Accra Branch expressed the Chamber’s commitment to advocating for a favourable business environment and facilitating platforms for knowledge exchange. He encouraged attendees to remain connected and continue the conversation beyond the forum. The GNCCI Accra Executive Business Forum 2025 was not only a gathering of ideas but also a reaffirmation of the private sector’s resilience and determination to drive Ghana’s economic progress, even during uncertain times.
