#2024 Polls: Ursula Owusu-Ekuful denies allegations of food rejection in Ablekuma West

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West constituency, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has vehemently denied allegations that constituents rejected food distributed by her team to party agents on voting day. She described the reports as reckless, unfounded, and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and tarnish her reputation.

Madam Owusu-Ekuful emphasized that no such incident occurred and that the narrative is devoid of any factual merit. She criticized the platform responsible for the publication, accusing it of failing to adhere to basic journalistic ethics of fact-checking and accuracy.

My commitment to the people of Ablekuma West is unwavering. Over the years, I have served this constituency with integrity and a deep respect for its people, prioritizing their welfare above all else. My team is focused on ensuring a smooth and peaceful electoral process, and any logistical support provided was well-received by all involved,” she stated in a press release.

The MP expressed her disappointment in what she termed as a malicious attempt to sow discord and undermine the unity and trust she has worked tirelessly to build with her constituents. She urged the public to disregard the false report and assured her constituents of her continued dedication and humility in serving them.

Background

The controversy began when reports surfaced online alleging that voters in the Ablekuma West Constituency had rejected food packs sent by Owusu-Ekuful on election day. According to the reports, a pick-up truck carrying the food packs was met with hostility and forced to leave the premises amidst heated protests.
