Telcos to face quality service assessments from July – Sam George

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation has announced that a comprehensive quality of service assessment will be conducted for all telecom operators in the final quarter of 2025. This announcement was made by the sector Minister, Samuel Nartey George, during a press briefing on Tuesday, June 10. It is part of ongoing efforts to enhance telecom services across the country.

The Minister stated that all telecom operators have been instructed to invest significantly in their networks during the third quarter, from July to September, in order to improve service delivery ahead of the nationwide assessment. He emphasised that any operator that fails to comply with these directives will face serious penalties.

“I have mandated that all operators make critical investments on their networks to improve quality over the next quarter, that is, from July to September. The regulator will commence a vigorous quality of service assessment in the final quarter of the year. That is from October to December. Defaulting operatives will be sanctioned.

In a related development, Sam George commended the Chief Executive Officers of the country’s three major telecom companies for pledging to collectively invest approximately $150 million into network improvements before the end of the year. He noted that this investment is a significant step toward addressing persistent consumer complaints about poor connectivity, call drops, and internet instability.

“I will also at this point commend the CEOs of the three telcos for their pledge commitment to collectively invest approximately 150 million dollars in their networks between now and the end of the year to enhance the quality of service either by acquisition,”he said.
