Mahama to address nation on 120-day governance contract

President John Dramani Mahama will deliver a special national broadcast on Wednesday, May 7, to update the public on the progress of his administration’s 120-day contract with the people of Ghana. This announcement was made by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communication. He encouraged citizens across the country to tune in to the address. According to Kwakye Ofosu, the broadcast will provide Ghanaians with an opportunity to assess the President’s performance over the past four months and evaluate how well he has fulfilled the promises outlined in the contract.

“On Wednesday, the President will hold a broadcast in which he will render account for his stewardship in the last four months or 120 days. Therefore, I will urge Ghanaians to tune in and listen to the President so that they can draw their conclusion as to the level of compliance with the very promises that the President made to the people of Ghana,” he said.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Monday, May 5, Kwakye Ofosu noted that the address would highlight key achievements under the President’s 120-day action plan—an integral part of his governance agenda since assuming office. So far, President Mahama has delivered on several major promises, including:

Forming a leaner government, with fewer ministerial portfolios to cut public spending.

Holding a National Economic Dialogue, to shape a homegrown fiscal recovery strategy.

Conveying an Education Dialogue, aimed at renewing Ghana’s educational vision.

Launching the ‘Tree for Life’ and ‘Blue Water Initiative’, focused on environmental restoration.

Rolling out the ‘One Million Coders’ Programme, to boost digital literacy and youth employment.

Establishing the Mahama Cares Health Fund, to support healthcare delivery.

Abolishing the E-Levy, Bet Tax, and Emissions Levy, to reduce the tax burden on citizens.

Funding the Women’s Development Bank, with seed capital allocated in the national budget.

Introducing a Code of Conduct for Government Appointees, to promote accountability and integrity in public service.

Kwakye Ofosu added that the President will also unveil additional initiatives and provide updates on pending commitments.

“The President will give an update on what he has been doing in respect of the 120-day contract,” he reiterated.
