On Wednesday, police made a significant advancement in the investigation of the suspected murder of a 23-year-old woman in Kwadaso, Kumasi. A suspect named Robert Kwabena Boamah, aged 34, was arrested at his hideout in Namong, near Offinso in the Ashanti Region. The victim, Dorothy Owusu Annor, also known as Maa Abena, was found dead with multiple stab wounds on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025.
According to a police statement, they received a distress call on Monday and discovered the deceased in an abandoned Opel Astra taxi with the registration number AS8575-Y. Initial investigations indicated that the vehicle belonged to the suspect, who was subsequently tracked down and arrested.
Interrogation/attempted suicide
The police indicated in the press statement that during interrogation, Boamah confessed to committing the crime and added that after his arrest, he attempted to take his own life by drinking weedicide but was treated and discharged at the Abuakwa Polyclinic. The suspect is currently in police custody, and efforts are underway to arrange for him to face the full rigours of the law before court.
“After his arrest, the suspect appeared weak and upon further questioning, he confessed to attempting to take his own life by drinking a bottle of weedicide. He was immediately taken to the Abuakwa Polyclinic, where he received treatment and was subsequently discharged”, it said. According to the Regional Police Command, efforts are underway to arraign the suspect in court.
