Former Auditor-General and member of the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) task force, Daniel Yao Domelevo, has underscored the importance of sustaining momentum in the government’s anti-corruption drive to preserve public confidence. Appearing on The Big Issue on Channel One TV, Saturday, January 10, 2026, Mr. Domelevo described ORAL as a “major initiative” first introduced ahead of the 2024 elections. “ORAL was a big plan deployed during the 2024 election, and we must keep it active so the public does not lose faith in our efforts,” he told host Selorm Adonoo
He explained that the committee’s mandate is primarily to receive complaints about alleged financial mismanagement and corruption, noting that it had received more than 2,000 complaints to date. “A lot of them were chaff, and we’ve thrown them away,” Domelevo added, highlighting the team’s effort to filter genuine complaints from frivolous ones.
Mr. Domelevo stressed that although the Mahama administration has not yet faced any significant financial scandals, weaknesses in the existing legal framework risk limiting ORAL’s effectiveness. He noted, “It would be better to introduce reforms to the legal framework to create the deterrence we expect,” adding that stronger laws are essential to guarantee accountability and prevent corruption before it arises.
