The Presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of Action Chapel International (ACI), Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, expressed his strong hope for a future Ghana where citizens no longer feel the need to travel abroad in search of better opportunities, but instead journey overseas only for leisure and holidays. Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held on July 1st in Accra, Archbishop Duncan-Williams urged Ghanaians to embrace their homeland, pursue their education locally, and thrive in their endeavours within the country.
He emphasised the importance of building a nation where opportunities are abundant for everyone and where success can be achieved without seeking a better life beyond Ghana’s borders. He also called on President John Dramani Mahama to continue his efforts to make Ghana a better and more prosperous place for its people.
Reflecting on the nation’s past, Archbishop Duncan-Williams lamented how Ghana was once ahead of countries like Singapore, China, and Malaysia in terms of development. He noted with concern that those nations have since surpassed Ghana significantly. His message served as both a call to action and a plea for national renewal, rooted in faith, unity, and purposeful leadership.
