The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has unveiled a national initiative encouraging Ghanaians and friends of Ghana to wear Fugu (Batakari) every Wednesday. In a statement signed by Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the move was described as a way to preserve and celebrate Ghana’s rich cultural heritage while strengthening national pride and identity.
Beyond its cultural significance, the initiative is expected to deliver social and economic benefits by empowering local weavers, designers, artisans, and traders across the value chain. The government believes that widespread adoption of Fugu will foster unity, boost the creative economy, and stand as a proud symbol of Ghana’s cultural confidence.
