Sade Dada, the Public Policy Manager for Anglophone West Africa at Meta (formerly Facebook), has announced monetising expanded features for content creators in Ghana. As part of this initiative, creators will have the opportunity to earn revenue from Facebook’s in-stream ads displayed alongside their content.
“Meta plans to introduce ads on Reels, giving creators the opportunity to earn a portion of the ad revenue generated from their Reels on Facebook. Mr. Dada announced this in an official communication to the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar.”
In a statement dated July 2, 2024, the Minister emphasized that content creators must comply with Meta’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies, which include stricter guidelines than the community standards regarding content and presentation format.
The Minister stated that the monetization of content would enable local content creators to earn money from their online content and access advanced features to manage their businesses online. She highlighted that the expansion of these monetization tools marks a significant milestone, helping content creators in Ghana leverage their online presence and build their brands. On behalf of the government, she commended Meta for its substantial investment in Ghana’s digital space.
